What does LARCH have?

Over 1400 full-color screens of information that...

• Feature abundant illustrations for unparalleled quality and quantity of images and animations.

• Illustrate core concepts and accommodate different learning styles with step-by-step explanations and illustrations.

• Use paging and image build-up to allow students back-and-forth transitions from one stage to the next.

• Use interactive drill-and-practice testing with immediate feedback and both “Work One for Me” and “Let Me Work One” self-testing options. Both algorithmically generate a set of variables for typical problems and step the student through the process, with intermediate answers. In “Let Me Work One,” the student gets three tries at the correct answer before the computer displays the answer and the process used to obtain it.

Algorithmic generation of numerical values insures a virtually unlimited number of different examples and test items. This lets students see randomly generated problems worked step-by-step with immediate feedback and faculty can create tests and answer keys from the algorithmically generated problems.

• Use analogies and comparisons that are easily visualized and recalled throughout to help students to remember new concepts.

• Present verbal and visual explanations of concepts with interactive quizzes at the conclusion of each segment—Material is presented in manageable, non-threatening chunks.

• Let students review material multiple times and work at their own pace.

• Use humor to make material memorable and fun, including word plays, creative examples and illustrations to keep students motivated and improve retention of key concepts.
