About LARCH

What is LARCH?

LARCH Is over 1400 displays of Tutorials and references on landscape architectural site-engineering and contains thousands of algorithmically-generated self-checking tests of your mastery of the content.

LARCH Is an INTERACTIVE Text for Students. LARCH was created for use in introductory courses in Landscape Architecture Construction, Landscape Design, Civil Engineering, Surveying, Agricultural Engineering (surveying), and Architectural Site Design.

LARCH Is a Reference for Professionals, a study guide for professionals in those fields preparing to take their professional licensing examination. LARCH content includes content tested in Section E of the L.A.R.E. (grading, drainage and storm water management), a section with typically 40% or lower passing rates.

LARCH Is a Set of Computer-Assisted Tutorials that fulfills the need for a low cost, heavily illustrated, introductory, interactive supplement to lectures and technical reference books. It does not assume the user is already familiar with the material as most technical references do. LARCH offers a combination of scope, value, and unique interactivity.

LARCH is an Interactive Digital Textbook of the 21st Century, a media-rich delivery system for all kinds of examples and illustrations of the technical aspects of landscape architecture. LARCH is suitable for self-study or as a presentation for class lectures. From Eratosthenes to Descartes to Robert Manning, from hard-core number-crunching calculations to humorous images of where and how we park our cars, LARCH takes students of landscape architecture through an interactive exploration of the profession's technical side in a way that no traditional textbook can possibly do.

LARCH Was Created Over a Twenty-Year Period by Professor Emeritus J. Brooks Breeden, FASLA of The Ohio State University as an aid for his classes in Landscape Architecture Construction. Since the mid-1980s, his students have tested and evaluated the content. LARCH has been used by numerous Landscape Architecture and allied professional programs as well as by many professionals preparing for their licensure examinations.
